Wedding Shower party ideas and themes 

History:

Wedding showers give you the opportunity to amalgamate fun, best wishes and bestow gifts on the bride-to-be. The first wedding shower is traced back to the Dutch where a young girl fell in love with a poor but benevolent miller who shared his few possessions with the dwellers fallen on hard times so the girl's father furiously refused to bestow the dowry necessary for the couple to establish a home. Although tradition is still present, only-women showers are given way to more originative celebrations that may involve men as well. The wedding shower is held about 4 to 6 weeks before the wedding to avoid excessive stress on the bride dealing with her wedding details as the big day approaches.

Guest list:

Make the guests list in advance deciding who to invite, how many people and also if male friends, couples or the groom himself will be included.

There is no mystery behind a wedding shower and what happens during it; eat, drink watch the bride-to-be opening her gifts and having fun together, but the exclusion of men has built myths around this celebration.

Shower Theme:

Pick a wedding shower theme selecting decorations and favors accordingly to it; favors may include cookies, recipe cards, jelly bellies, candles, little tools for the groom, wooden spoons or a single rose among endless ideas, but be careful with the theme. Remember that people of different generations will meet to celebrate and some of them might find inappropriate with certain themes like alcohol or sexual oriented.

When setting the party theme prefer the bride's hobbies and interests, the place where the honeymoon is going to be or any other grannies-mothers-proof theme if the wedding shower include family guests. An afternoon tea is the favorite safe-theme for wedding showers in this case.
