- Pizzas, burgers, tacos, chips and dip, popcorn, fried chicken, nachos and cheese are basically the servings at college events.
- Never use pitchers to pour beer or other beverages.
- For every person expected to attend the party plan at least two cups to prevent no one use a dirty cup.
- Always place the unused cups facing downward to prevent any person from slipping drugs in them.
- Pick up any cups left on the floor while the party is going on to ensure no one else may use them.
- Report any strange or suspicious behavior by any party attendant, student or not.
- Promote and support these guidelines throughout the party and take seriously any concerns expressed about them.
Adults are not welcome in college events but usually most students feel sympathy for one or more of them at the campus to whom they consider as friends and appreciate. When possible invite such person(s) to the college event asking him/her to stand nearby the bar or risk areas to increase the student’s safety but don't make a mistake; get the opinion of the students first on having any adults at their events.
When celebrating a College Event offer to the student the following guidelines:
-
No matter if the drink comes from a friend the only ones they will accept are in unopened cans and bottles.
-
-
Beverages that come in sealed containers are much safer than mixed drinks.
-
-
When they order a mixed drink they must watch closely the person who mixes it.
-
-
Students should never drink anything out of a common punch bowl.
-
-
If they put down the drink for any reason it is advisable to get a new one.
-
-
Always make sure the cups the bartender is using have been stacked upside-down preventing anything could be sitting in the bottom of them.
-
-
Be wary about accepting drinks from people they don’t know well or long enough to trust their intentions.
-
-
If a classmate of someone else offers to get them a drink, encourage the student to go up to the bar with that person in order to accept it.
-
-
Before any college celebration ask the students to subscribe to the "buddy system" and always party with one or more friends to keep an eye on each other.
-
-
Any student who sees someone "too drunk" must give him/her a helping hand to get them to a safe place.
-
-
Watchful friends can help prevent rape by the use of drugs or any other incident.
The effects of date rape drugs usually begin within thirty minutes; symptoms include drowsiness, dizziness, confusion, visual disturbances, urinary retention, nausea gastrointestinal disturbances, and memory impairment and blackouts.
