Anniversary celebrations began in medieval times for the occasion of 25 and 50 years of marriage, a tradition that survives to the present including many other anniversaries added through the time to represent the different aspects of the couple’s commitment to each other and the continued love and support received from family and friends.

While planning keep in mind the purpose of the occasion, the available budget and the guests attending the event since they will influence for good or bad the sort of party you will have. Timing the party will allow you to find the right

Two months in advance:  If you are having a party instead, this it the time to write down your guest list, decide the party theme and the location where the party will be held either at home, a family or friend's house or attending an outside venue in which case book as soon as possible.

One month in advance:  Send out invitations including directions and other details if necessary. Buy decorations and fun products (if planned) such as confetti and balloons. Don't forget to have a video camera on hand to get it all on tape.

Remember that the sky is the limit when it comes to decorations and the theme of the party combining the couple's favorite color scheme or a theme that brings to their mind the date when they first met. Themes can also be associated to the particular anniversary the same as the presents, for example, the copper wedding anniversary parties can be themed in tan colors with copper casseroles and decorations all over the place, even if they are simply made with fantasy metallic paper.
